Germany By Bus

Though European trains and railpasses are extremely popular, buses are sometimes a better—and cheaper—option. Amsterdam, Athens, Istanbul, London, Munich, and Olso are centers for private bus lines that offer long-distance rides accross Europe. International bus passes provide an affordable way to access unlimited travel between 40 European cities. The web resource www.reisebus24.de (in German) compares prices of different German bus lines. The prices below are based on travel during high-season.

  • Eurolines 4 Vicarage Rd., Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 3ES, UK (☎+44 8705 143 219 www.eurolines.com). The largest operator of Europe-wide coach services. Unlimited pass for 15 days under 26 €279, adult €329; for 30 days €359/439.
  • Busabout , 258 Vauxhall Brigde Rod., London SW1V 1BS, UK (☎+44 207 950 1661; www.busabout.com). Busabout is a hop-on hop-off travel network with 30 destinations in Europe in 10 countries. A Busabout Flexitrip Pass (6 or more flexistops) ($549, Flexi Days $59) will give you access to the entire Busabout coach network.
