With jet fuel prices on the rise, savvy travelers have to be clever when searching for the best deal on airfare. In addition to budget European companies like RyanAir and easyJet , here are some Germany-specific places to start looking:

  • Air Berlin, (UK ☎08070 738 88 80; www.airberlin.com). The second largest airline in Germany flies to over 140 destinations in Germany, Europe, and throughout the world. Took over Düsseldorf-based airline LTU in August 2007.
  • germanwings, (Germany ☎01805 73 71 00; www.germanwings.com). With 68 destinations in Germany and abroad, German Wings offers many special deals and reduced fares, especially for children.
  • TUI Fly, (Germany ☎0180 509 35 09; www.hlx.com). Formerly Hapag-Lloyd Express. Services Stuttgart, Cologne/Bonn, Hanover, Hamburg and Berlin, with routes extending to Greece and Israel.
  • Condor, (USA & Canada ☎+1-800-364-1667, Germany ☎+49 180 570 7202; www.condor.com). Operates out of major German airports in Germany. Condor City Flights start at €29 one-way, including all surcharges.
