A panorama of rocky shores, beaches, and luxurious villas lines the coast between hectic Nice and high-rolling Monaco. These tiny towns are a break from the bustle of their glamorous neighbors. Though their beaches are small and pebbly—and a few more stops on the train lead to larger, jaw-dropping Menton—short and inexpensive rides still make any town in the Corniches (kohr-neesh) a sweet daytrip from Nice. The train offers an exceptional glimpse of the coast’s towns, while cheaper but slower buses maneuvering along the high roads of the Corniches provide views of the cliffs and sea below.
