Often called the Secret Riviera, Menton offers the chance to bask in Cote d'Azur sunshine and wander through quaint alleyways without the gouging prices and snobby club scene thats pervades the coastline between Monaco and St. Tropez. Reminiscent of a time before discotheques, Menton is a quiet town with a slow pace of life; we don't think it's a coincidence that the city feels more Italian than French. With the Italian border just a couple of minutes away, you definitely feel the culture seeping in, with gelaterias and Italian cuisine frequently mixed with French menus and seafood. The town is still a popular destination for French and Italian tourists, so don't expect undiscovered bliss. Still, Menton's hybrid culture with an Italian twang is more than worth a trip—any town that features pizza and gelato on the average menu du jour is a friend of ours.
