Montpellier Overview

It's hard to find locals who were born in Montpellier. A college town and cultural center, Languedoc-Rousillon's capital seduces visitors and then compels them to stay. Reputed to be the most light-hearted place in the south, Montpellier prides itself on a diverse population of partygoers and some of the best gay nightlife in France. Amateur theatrical and musical performances take place in pl. de la Comédie, academics browse trendy bookstores, and tourists shop for funky flair in hip boutiques.
