Renting an RV costs more than tenting or hosteling but less than staying in hotels while renting a car (see Renting). The convenience of having your own bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen makes RVing an attractive option, especially for older travelers and families with children. Mexico’s Copper Canyon in the west and the beach towns along Pacific coast have long been popular RV destinations.
Rates vary widely by region, season (July and Aug. are the most expensive months), and type of RV. Rental prices for a standard RV are around 8,600 pesos (US$800) per week.
