The low season in Thailand is marked by small crowds and reduced prices, though many beaches, islands, and trekking centers are completely closed down. Those willing to brave the crowds will find the high season more accommodating. The rainy season spans from May to September, and the dry season runs from October to May. For the most part, Thailand is hot and humid; temperatures fluctuate around 27˚C (80˚F) year-round everywhere except the extreme uplands of the north, where nighttime temperatures can drop dramatically (see Average Temperatures).
