Thailand By Land

Overland border-crossing points represent legal points of transit between Southeast Asian countries. Check local news agencies and embassies to confirm which border-crossing points are open. Though Thailand’s border-crossing regulations remain stable, those of its neighboring countries do not. The result is unpredictable closings of crossing points, particularly with Malaysia.

  • Border Crossings
  • Cambodia: Aranyaprathet to Poipet, from Chong Jiam , or via a Trat-Sihanoukville boat .
  • Laos: Chiang Khong to Houie Xay , Nong Khai to Vientiane, Nakhon Phanom to Tha Kaek , Mukdahan to Savannakhet , Chong Mek to Vang Tao .
  • Myanmar: Mae Sot , or the Three Pagoda Pass . Border crossing points close frequently and unexpectedly, so check at the local embassy first.
