Fiordland Overview

A series of rugged ranges and valleys, green with beech trees and brimming with waterfalls, Fiordland is New Zealand’s largest national park. Home to iconic Milford Sound, tranquil Doubtful Sound, more than 500km of trails, and three Great Walks, the region delights kayakers and trampers alike. Fiordland’s tireless forces of nature—frequent avalanches and persistent rainfalls—complement a majestic terrain. Manapouri, Tuatapere, and Queenstown can serve as bases for an assault on the park, but Te Anau rightfully lays claim to the role of regional gateway.
