There are numerous ways of getting around Vietnam over land and by plane. Many tourists utilize the open-tour buses operated by tourist agencies in HCMC and Hà Nÿi. Motorbikes—often with hired drivers—are also a popular method of transportation, and they are sometimes the only option in more rural or less-traveled areas. The public bus system is by far the cheapest option, although for safety and comfort reasons, few tourists choose the public transportation system.
