Vietnam Education Programs
Most of the education programs below are English-teaching programs, but differ from those listed in the Teaching English section
in that they do not require previous experience or teaching certification.
- Cung Thi_u Nhi Hà Nÿi (The Children’s Palace of Hà Nÿi), around the corner from the post office on 15 Tr<n Nguyˆn Han (☎091 350 0582; honghoarose@yahoo.com) is supported by the Vietnamese government as an after-school and summer-school program for teaching
children ages 5-12. Hiring volunteers and paid teachers. Open daily 8am-5pm.
- Project Trust, The Hebridean Centre, Isle of Coll, Argyll PA78 6TE, UK (☎187 923 0444; www.projecttrust.org.uk). Open to EU citizens ages 17-19. Spend a year teaching English at a high school or university.
£4190 program fee covers almost all expenses.
- Travel to Teach, 535 Rim Khong Road, Th-43 000 Nongkhai, Thailand (☎66 06 239 5481; www.travel-to-teach.org). Spend 1-6 months teaching English at a primary school and organizing afterschool activities in
Hà Nÿi, Nha Trang, or HCMC. Also hosts environmental and youth programs. €200-600 per month plus travel costs.
- Volunteers in Asia, P.O. Box 20266, Stanford, CA 94309, USA (☎650-723-3228; www.viaprograms.org). 1- to 2-year university teaching programs open to college graduates. Undergrads can spend 6 weeks
running workshops on American culture with the Teach-in-Hu\ program. Airfare, housing, and training covered in cost of program
(US$1500-3000). Scholarships available.
