Vietnam Working

The Vietnamese government is wary of giving jobs to foreigners and generally restricts foreign employment to jobs requiring skills not readily available in the country. Teaching English is the most commonly available job, though some foreigners can find local editing and publishing jobs. If you want to work in Vietnam, you’ll need to secure a business visa.

  • Visa Information. You’ll need to obtain a business visa to be employed in Vietnam, which requires your sponsor organization in Vietnam to apply for one for you (in addition to the normal visa requirements, listed on). If you land in Vietnam and find a job afterward, you’ll have to ask the organization to transfer the status of your visa and leave the country for a few days (probably just to head into Cambodia or Laos). Check the website or call your country’s embassy for details.
