Puerto Rico Useful Publications

The following publications are available in Puerto Rico.

¡Qué Pasa! (☎800-246-8677; www.gotopuertorico.com). The official publication of the Puerto Rican Tourism Company (PRTC) includes accommodations, restaurants, nightlife options, feature articles, and maps. Call to have a copy mailed home or pick up a copy at any tourist office or hotel. Free. The PRTC also publishes Go To Puerto Rico, another magazine describing hotels and restaurants throughout the island. Free.
The San Juan Star. It may not be the best newspaper in Puerto Rico, but The San Juan Star is the only island paper to come out with a daily English edition. Also has a Spanish-language version. $0.45.
Places to Go (www.coral-publications.com). Puerto Ricans’ favorite travel guide is a color brochure listing hotels and restaurants in every city on the island. Available in English and Spanish at most tourist businesses and offices on the island. Also publishes the less-popular Bienvenidos magazine. Free.
El Boricua (www.elboricua.com). A monthly bilingual publication on Puerto Rican cultural and current events. Publishes the work of Puerto Rican poets.
Puerto Rican Telephone Tourist Quick Guide (www.superpagespr.com). It’s hard to find, but this is one of Puerto Rico’s most helpful publications. Includes tourism-related articles and an abbreviated version of the Yellow Pages designed for tourists. Free.
