Montparnasse doesn't have much in terms of nightlife; at night, most of its younger residents are busy partying it up in other arrondissements. Older crowds frequent the bars along the main boulevards and avenues.

Until the end of 2010, the venue will host Ciné-Philo, a screening, lecture, and discussion cafe, held every other Sunday at 2:20pm (€8); check the monthly schedule in the main foyer. Le Redlight, 34 rue du Départ (☎42 79 85 49; www.leredlight.com), Formerly known as Enfer, Le Redlight is located at the foot of the Tour Montparnasse. Cozy red booths surround a disco-lit dance floor. DJs generally fall under the electro/dance/house genre, but they mix it up with R and B every once in a while. The party doesn't get jumping'til late, and drinks are expensive, so start your night early and then head here; make-up you caked on will be quickly sweat off. Fauxhawks and fitted hats alike nod to the music. Crowd straddles the tween divide. Come for a great house DJ set or, just to get down. Montparnasse-Bienvenue. Admission €20, includes 1 drink.
