Santorini Misadventures |
Santorini is renowned for being one of the most beautiful of the Greek islands - and that's saying a lot, because these isles are all insanely gorgeous. Pulling into the New Port this morning, I was greeted with a scene just as breathtaking as I'd been imagining, if not more. Little did I know, a day of misadventure awaited.
With closed museums, screaming children, and renegade buckets of water, it was not a good day. Thankfully, this guy saved the day. Seriously, though, he has left me with a smile on my face and an overall positive impression of my first day on Santorini:
I left Ios this morning - that place was one big, crazy party, which I already miss after spending less than 48 hours on that island - but as soon as I laid eyes on this critter, randomly sitting on one of the chairs in my hotel's lounge area, I knew that the best part of Ios had followed me here. This guy is definitely from Ios; his shirt is basically Ios' motto in a nutshell, and I'm sure he's related to that blow-up doll with a very prominent third leg sitting behind the bar at Flames (one of Ios' hottest nightspots). Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I just look over to my nightstand where he's perched in all his shameless glory, and I can't help but laugh. Definitely the best Greek island souvenir ever.
Santorini, I sure hope this is an omen of good things to come.
