Out Of This World – Literally

Visitors to Bratislava can’t help but notice the towering, futuristic structure which straddles the New Bridge (Nový Most) over the Danube River. Constructed between the years 1967-1972 as a symbol of Communist modernism, the 850m tower has earned the name “The UFO”. While the observation deck is open to visitors, there is a far more pleasurable way to enjoy the view from the top.

Taste would be an extremely appealing restaurant anywhere, but its location (in the tower) and decor make it downright spectacular. Combining futuristic touches with an overriding elegance, the dining room features clear high-backed chairs, tall crystal flowers, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows with spectacular views of the city and the Bratislava Castle. While enjoying the scenery, diners choose from an inventive Mediterranean/Asian fusion menu. The dinner menu is served in 6 courses, featuring such dishes like Seared Royal pigeon with shiitake mushrooms and Monkfish loin in pimento crust. Food this good comes at a price, of course, but Taste provides a dining experience that visitors won’t forget.
