Save The Students

…and listen to music at the Student House. Aalborg first opened the Studenter Huset as a not-for-profit café, bar, and music venue. Since then, more of these institutions have sprung up in Denmark, including a particularly popular location in Arhus. All workers are volunteers, and profits go toward keeping the House running.

The Student House attracts a wide range of musicians and genres from punk rock to hip-hop. Concerts usually take place twice a week at the Aalborg location. Many underground local names come to perform, sharing the stage with some international bands. On more low-key days, there is a full bar, pool tables, and foosball where people hang out and relax.

Students from any university can be a part of this institution; it is self-described as a place where “students, business, innovation, culture and knowledge meet.” Volunteer at the bar, organize international activities, plan cultural events, help with publicity, or come to play your music!

The Student House is open M-Sa from 11:30am-midnight on M/Tu, 1am on W, and 2am on Th/F/Sa. Email frivillig@studenterhusaarhus.dk or check out their website at www.studenterhuset.dk. People usually volunteer for a semester, but you can arrange to volunteer for even a day or week.
