William Locke's Blog

A freshman Psych concentrator suffering from a chronic case of wanderlust, William is never happier than when he is waiting in an airport, or sleeping on a park bench (not that we would ever recommend such minimal accommodations). After bouncing from country to country for most of his life, Let's Go is finally paying him to cut lines, badger tourist offices, and guard his passport with his life. From Denmark, to England and Scotland, and finally to Ireland, William is traversing some of the finest student spots Europe has to offer. Personal motto? Always take care of your feet, because when all else fails… you can walk there.

As anyone who has even heard of the UK knows, pubs are a thing. An institution. A part of the culture in the way that no other establishment designed for imbibing can quite match. But, of course, there is money to be made anywhere that has such a massive... Read more
Three Reasons to Appreciate Belfast Nightlife

Belfast is, unfortunately, too often overlooked as people plan their British adventures. Dublin, London, Oxford, Edinburgh, yes; Belfast, sadly not so much. And a crying shame that is too. Though not sprawling or teeming with more options than you could... Read more

Witching Hour on the Royal Mile

You've left the loud buzz of a club early, the lights and the noise blasting all the senses from your head. Almost like that first stinging kick of alcohol on your first sniff of Scotch. But it's quieter now, beating music to be replaced by the soft... Read more
A British Summer at the Races
stamp
On the British social calendar there are some fixtures that bring out the best (and maybe the worst) in the upper echelons of society. They are for the elite few, an opportunity to dress up in the dapper styles of ash-grey waistcoats, pinstripe trousers,... Read more
Buried Alive in Edinburgh
stamp
We've all heard the old horror story of being prematurely declared dead, promptly popped into a coffin and swallowed by the Earth. There is something creepily frightening in imagining the crushing weight of the soil above you, or the dark heavy earth... Read more
The Simple Joys of Punting
stamp
There is nothing quite so iconically British as punting down a river. So blissfully calm it looks: the straw boaters of the 'puntsmen,' the sprawling passengers atop their tartan rugs, sipping on some chilled beverage as they drift quietly past each... Read more
