If you came to Europe for the nightlife, you’ve chosen the right city. Not only does Madrid offer every type of nightlife experience known to man: thanks to the youth culture of el botellón, it offers one experience only known to sleepless teenaged zombies. La Latina and Lavapiés are home to some internationally recognized clubs, a spectrum of bars, tabernas, and late-night cafes. Meanwhile, the streets of Las Huertas are packed with discotecas that would have the old literati of the neighborhood pondering the great moral dilemma of the dance floor makeout. In Chueca and Malasaña, the nightlife scene is chameleon-like, with clubs and bars opening and closing at a rapid pace. Other neighborhoods, like Argüelles and Moncloa, are more laid-back and house some great live music venues. So pick your poison, get crazy, and stay hydrated.
