BRUGES

Thanks to its small size, Bruges is very easy to navigate. Getting lost in the city is more fun than worrying, since it takes only 10min. to get back on track. Bruges is surrounded by a canal which cuts through the center of the city, so if you do get lost, just follow the water. The Markt is the center of town, and is recognizable by the large belfry tower, which can be seen from almost any part of town. Four of Bruges’s main roads emanate from the Markt: St. Jakobstraat to the northwest, Vlamingstraat to the northeast, Wollestraat to the southeast, and Steenstraat to the southwest. East of the Markt along Breidelstraat is the Burg, Bruges’s other main square, which sports the Town Hall and Holy Blood Chapel. Hoogstraat runs east from the Burg, while Blezelstraat runs south. When listing directions, we will use these two squares (the Markt and the Burg) as starting points for finding other locations.
