ARLES

Getting into Arles is fairly easy from the train station. Follow the signs to one of the northern gate of the city. rue Voltaire leads right up to the Amphitheater, and is cluttered with ATMS and cheap hotels. Behind the Amphitheater is the Theatre Antique, which is on rue de la Republique. This main road goes by all the museums and the nun cloister. Cafes and brasseries within the city congregate around the pl. de la Forum, as well as pl. de la Republique. Further south is the edge of the old city, b. George Clemenceau, where the bars and more modern restaurants and concert venues are. This bl. turns into Des Lices, where you find the tourist office, right next to the carousel.
