BIOT
Biot is the glassblowing capital of France. While it has some less than interesting museums on pottery, the real attractions are the modern day artisans, who mold molten glass with the same tools used centuries ago. The town itself hasn’t changed much since the 1400s, and the townspeople have clung to the old Provençal architecture of whitewashed walls and tiled floors, making every hotel, restaurant, and cafe the most adorable place you’ve ever seen. While at first you might be met with suspicion by locals who are highly aware that you’re a foreigner, they are more than eager to open up, especially the many restauranteurs and artisans. Getting around in the city is pretty easy, since the town is no more than a couple hundred meters across. Because you could walk Biot in under 30min., it’s best to explore the town slowly, wander through some shops, and enjoy the long lunches.
