Great Outdoors

The Presqu’il features stunning views of the other calenques along the coast. A small hike will take you to its edge, where you can survey the a long strip of the coast, and where the rich Cassis population keeps their yachts. (Located on the very edge of the calenque.)

A farther walk, but in the opposite of all the tourists, the rocky La Plage de L'Arène is both the most secluded and the most stunning in the area. (From the bus stop, walk uphill on ave. du Revestel past the fancy Chateaux and the vineyard. There will be a sign pointing you to the right. Follow it to the stairs, which lead you to the beach. The bay is called Anse de l’Arène.)

Learn the extent to which old people have no shame at the packed and very French La Plage Bestouan. You will see exposed body parts well past their prime here; maybe the Dove campaign was too successful. (Walk to the side of the harbor opposite the lighthouse. Continue uphill on ave. de l’Admiral Geanteaume and follow the signs. To avoid excess nudity, keep to the left and follow the stairs around the corner. Flat white rocks to lay on as well as a view of the boats going in and out of the harbor.)

La Plage Bleue is less of a beach and more like a series of sharp ledges of rock that jut out over the water. The water is shallow, so don’t go jumping. Less crowded, but beware of gawkers above you. (On the way to the calenque and presqu’il. Follow directions to La Plage Bestouan, and continue ave. des Calanques, and follow signs to Presqu’il. You will walk past residential areas and eventually to the end of the road. Go through the parking lot and arrive at the beach on the other side.)
