MONTPELLIER
The right fork in front of the train station, rue Mageulone, leads to place de la Comédie, Montpellier’s spectacular central square, with the three Graces fountain, a carousel, the tram station, and cafes everywhere. The tourist office is at the far right end of the square, just before the entrance to the tree-lined Esplanade Charles de Gaulle. The vieille ville is an oval bounded by main arteries on all sides: Bld. de Pasteur/Bld. Louis Blanc (the slash signifies that the road changes names) to the north, Esplanade Charles de Gaulle and Bld. Victor Hugo to the east, and Bld. Henri VI/Bld. du Jeu de Paume to the west and south. From pl. de la Comédie rue de la Loge is what you’ll walk daily to reach pl. Jean Jaurès, the heart of the vieille ville.
