St-Raphaël has all of the beaches, bikinis, and ensuing debauchery of its more popular neighbors, but at budget prices—by Riviera standards, anyway; the town’s still not the rock-bottom deal you’re probably looking for, but when you consider that Cannes and St. Tropez cater to counts, Clooney, and women who want Clooney, St-Raphaël starts to look like a steal. Midway through summer, the town boardwalk turns into a carnival in the evenings, and becomes packed with gaming booths and flirty teenagers. If you need to escape the crowds, the secluded beaches along the coast provide the perfect spotto avoid the crazy excesses of the Cote d’Azur. If nothing else, use this place as a launch point for a trip to St-Tropez—the ferry is definitely affordable and accessible from this point.
