Residential Toulouse sprawls along both sides of the Garonne River, but the thriving centre-ville hugs its eastern bank, bounded by rue de Metz to the south, bd de Strasbourg to the north, and bd Lazare Carnot to the east. At the heart of the city is the grand Capitole building, just a 20min. walk downhill from the Gare Matabiau train station on allées Jean Jaurès. The hub for Toulouse’s efficient Metro system is located at the intersection of allées Jean Jaurès and bd de Strasbourg, only blocks away from the Capitole.
