NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE

Grey’s Monument is the center of Grainger Town, the historic heart of Newcastle; most of the main streets of this charming 19th-century Georgian neighborhood and the major shopping areas connect directly at the monument. The Newcastle Quayside is a trendy area around the river banks, about a 10min. walk from Grainger Town. Here, Newcastle is connected to neighboring Gateshead by a series of stylish bridges. Jesmond is a Victorian suburb just to the northeast of the city center. Keep an eye out for the blue tourist markers handily placed around town, as street signs here are notoriously sparse.
