Golf
Welcome to the sport that’s an excuse to drink whiskey while pretending to exercise (and indeed, the first golf matches were accompanied by a mandatory meal and drink). That thing your dad did every Father’s Day, Labor day, Sunday...well, any day really. The long and short of it is, golf was invented here in St. Andrews, and people know it. This is probably the only town where, on certain blocks, pro shops actually outnumber residential housing. 2010 marked the 150th anniversary of the British Open, which was held on the Old Course, the town’s most famous course of Scottish style “links.” Nine holes out. Turn around. Nine holes in. Repeat.
Ladies Putting Green
A good option for the uninitiated, the Ladies Putting Club offers a“Himalayas” course (think miniature golf course without all the windmills) of rolling greens and 18 holes, right next to the Old Course.
