If you’re looking to get drunk, get laid, or both, this is the place for you. The Greek islands are a fabulous place for summer debauchery—but Ios has made a name for itself as the ultimate haven for party animals. Of all the islands, Ios boasts the hottest nightlife scene by far, and the youngest and horniest crowd to match. During your days on Ios (note that a day on Ios runs from 2pm to 6am), expect to be either ragingly drunk or head-splittingly hungover. With ubiquitous public toilets and trash cans that look more like heavy-duty barf bags, Ios Town clearly caters to the plastered. Ios also has great beaches, such as Mylopotas, where young island-hoppers tan and flirt. Those who aren’t so keen on getting some (or being surrounded by people trying to get some) can opt for the more tranquil coves that dot the coastline. You can also remind yourself of how sophisticated Greek culture can be by visiting Homer’s burial site on the north end of the island and admiring the seas and mountains immortalized in his epics. Then head back to Ios Town to get epically drunk all over again.
