NAXOS

Naxos centers on the waterfront. Facing inland, the port is on the left side of the waterfront. The bus station is directly in front of the port, and the Temple of Apollo is beyond the port, on its own little patch of land at the far left. To the right is a street best referred to as taverna row. Interspersed with the tavernas are bars, cafes, and tourist shops. Kastro (“The Castle”) is the area deeper into town, now home to several museums. Access Kastro by way of the narrow side streets leading uphill and inland from taverna row. Accommodations are everywhere in the center of Naxos Town, as well as around some of the island’s beaches. The best nightlife can be found toward the right end of the waterfront, and on the street one block inland from taverna row.
