MONTEROSSO
Divided in two by a steep hill, Monterosso can nonetheless be walked from end to end in less than 10min. From the train station, turn left onto Lungomare di Fegina, where the sea view is obstructed (how rude!) by the umbrellas of beachside cafes. Free and private beaches are interspersed below this boardwalk-like avenue. Pass through the tunnel or take the slightly longer scenic route climbing to the right and enter Piazza Garibaldi, from which the tiny Via Vittorio Emanuele, inaccessible to cars, splits off to the left. Just further right is Via Roma, Monterosso’s “Main Street” beneath which runs its Tunderground river. Home to numerous restaurants, shops, and accommodations, V. Roma runs up the hill to parking and one of the roads that leads out of town.
