VERNAZZA

One street, three names, and 100 million postcards. That’s Vernazza in a nutshell, with the help of some hyperbole. The town’s main street, Via Roma, runs from the train station and becomes Via Visconti about halfway to the water. Above the train station, it’s called Via Gavino and is where you’ll find many of the village’s essential services. At the bottom of V. Visconti, restaurant-lined, umbrella-shaded Piazza Marconi overlooks Vernazza’s tiny, picturesque harbor. From V. Roma/V. Visconti, many smaller “streets”—really staircases—and the trails to Monterosso and Cornigliarise connect with the homes and affittacamere (room rentals) above.
