VERONA
There is an incredible number of well-preserved historic sights and buildings in Verona, and though it’s a sprawling city, it’s fairly manageable. Biking and walking are the best means of transit, since much of Verona is difficult to navigate by car. Though traversing the city on foot may seem daunting, pretty much everything of interest is within a 15-20min. walk from the Arena that sits above the central Piazza Bra. The Adige River meanders through the city. Verona University and its trail of kebab joints are on the east side of the Adige. Across the Ponte Navi from this area, V. Leoni leads northwest to the historical center of Piazza delle Erbe and then on toward Piazza Duomo. Walk west along the river to find the Castelvecchio.
