24 Hours in Norway

Okay, so technically I was there for 48 hours.

Regardless, I can tell you that Oslo is the city where dreams are made. Whether going to Holmenkollen for some ski jumps or the Nobel Peace Prize museum, you are sure to fall in love with this quaint capital.

If you’re like me, you ended up in Oslo because of a $40 Ryanair flight.

Little did I know that Oslo would be one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen. If you make your trip during the winter, expect crisp air and snow absolutely everywhere. Although the wind has its tendency to slap you across the face, you will be thankful that there is no smog or air pollution to leave you gagging. Suddenly you aren’t so nostalgic for the sun of LA, right? You can see the sky in this city! You can breathe! It’s a miracle!

The best part of Norway is indisputably the Norwegians.

If you’re lost—for example, in front of something completely obscure like The Royal Palace—they will hide their laughter and critiques of the stupid Americans in front of them. They will help take your latte order in English because unlike many countries, they aren’t offended when you can’t speak Norwegian.

To be fair, we tried.

Best of all, your new Norwegian friends will make sure that you don’t buy an ounce of alcohol that entire weekend (unfortunately, Oslo is one of the most expensive cities in the world…).

Don't let this deter you from the magic of outdoor ice skating rinks, erotic sculpture parks, and everything random that can easily be linked with one word: Norway.
