PARQUE NACIONAL DA PENEDA-GERES

Overview

Portugal’s mountainous border with Spain is pure Eden for those who love the outdoors: kilometer after kilometer of forest trails meander through the densely wooded serras and along teal-blue lakes, past ruins from the Iron Age and Roman period, and through modern villages. The Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, which became Portugal’s first protected wilderness area in 1971, is also home to the endangered uIberian wolf, so be wary of this little doggie coming by your camp.
