CARRION DE LOS CONDES

Overview

Carrión de los Condes (pop. 2,328) is a tiny pueblo in the province
of Palencia, the heart of Castilla y León. It’s the sort of place where you wake up to the
sounds of church bells and roosters and spend the day meandering through the quiet streets
under darting swallows and swooping storks. It is a mandatory stop—one of the most
impressive—along the Camino de Santiago, and is renowned for its incredible Romanesque
churches and the Renaissance cloister of San Zoilo across the river.
