IBIZA

Ibiza town, or Eivissa, is on the southeast part of the island of Ibiza and can be traversed with just a short walk. The main avenues running across the western, newer part of the city are Avinguda d’Isidor Macabich, home to the town’s main bus station, and Avinguda d’Espanya, where you’ll find a slew of markets, restaurants, internet cafes, and inexpensive shops. The Passeig de Vara de Rei branches off the eastern end of Avda. Espanya, and the restaurant-lined Plaça del Parc is one block away. The commercial shopping area is most developed on and around Avinguda Bartolomé Rosselló and Carrer Comte de Rosselló, and the most interesting (though expensive) restaurants line the port along Avinguda Andanes and Avinguda Santa Eulària des Riu. The historical center—and prettiest part of Ibiza town—is the World Heritage Site Dalt Vila, the quiet walled city above the busy town below.

The island’s other hub is Sant Antoni de Portmany (or Sant Antoni), on the western shore. The bus station is on the eastern edge of town, and most accommodations are away from the water to the north, but the entire town is very walkable. Head out of the city along the water to the left to hit the beach. Cafes and raucous nightlife can be found all along the water, from the Sunset Strip at the far western end of Carrer Vara de Rey and along Passeig del Mar on the shore. The wildest nightlife is on Carrer de Santa Agnès and its side streets.
