NERJA
Overview
The tourist capital of the Costa del Sol, Nerja clearly knows how to entertain with the awe-inspiring Cueva de Nerja, the high-energy party harbor at Plaza Tutti Frutti, and over 13km of Spain’s hottest beaches. Even though Nerja may seem more amusement park than historical sightseeing haven, its culture is far better than its cotton candy. This ancient Moorish town is actually named for the Arab word narixa, meaning “abundant spring,” describing the beautiful but menacing limestone waterfalls pouring down from the surrounding Sierra. Nerja prides itself on its untouched ocean coves, temperate and sunny climate, and relaxed, beachy attitude. This small town is the perfect place to get a tan, snack on the catch of the day, and rejuvenate in a Spanish paradise.
