The tiny but beautiful town of Villafranca del Bierzo lies on the
Camino de Santiago, hidden in the mountains and valleys of Spain’s rugged northwest.
Villafranca is beyond “cute.” English does not have an adjective that adequately describes
how adorable this village is. A little under 2hr. by bus from Astorga, Villafranca is full
of ancient churches, narrow, cobble-stoned streets, and plazas from which you can see the
town’s medieval buildings silhouetted against the dramatic mountains that surround the
village.
