Okay, so there are really two categories here: Places to go to get drunk AND eat, and places to eat when you're intoxicated and craving some delicious-ness in your belly. Let's start with the latter.
For those that live in Amherst, there are several obvious choices, and some that many may not be aware of. Most of which are pizza places, because what is better than eating pizza after a night off too many Bud Light pitchers?
1. Antonio's Pizza by the Slice This place is a must. It is an epic little hole in the wall with the best damn pizza you've ever had. Seriously. They have everything you could imagine (and some things you probably wouldn't) on their pizzas. I'm talkin' everything from your average buffalo chicken, to delectable TORTELLINI and pesto. It is insanely good.
2. Primo Too Pizza Just down the road on Triangle Street, Primo Too boasts pizza almost as delicious as Antonio's, but without the hoard of drunken college kids waiting in a so-called "line" (apparently organizational skills go out the window after a night of debauchery).
3. Bruno's Bruno's is epic for two reasons: first, they have everything you could want, including (but not limited to) pizza, calzones, wings, and hot subs. Second, free delivery. Yup, no need to say more.
4. Amherst Sub and Pizza Also located on the same street as Antonio's, and just around the corner from Primo Too, Amherst Sub and Pizza boasts delicious menu items at great prices. In addition, I'm pretty certain no one know that it exists. Seriously. Everytime I go in there isn't anyone in sight, except those that stumble in from the Spoke which is right next door. It's great for those nights that you just can't be in public anymore.
Okay, next: Great places to get drunk AND eat, because sometimes you don't have time to do each separately.
1. Panda East Scorpion bowls galore, and limited ID checking makes for a fabulous night out whether your fake ID looks like you, or not at all. There is a sushi menu, as well as the traditional chinese food options, and everything that I've tasted (which is a lot) has been delicious. Also, the scorpion bowls come to the table with a flaming shot of 151 in the middle to help you get your night started off right.
2. Rafters Sports Bar and Restaurant (Disclaimer: I am employed at this fabulous establishment) Rafters is a great place to grab a pitcher, or four, with your friends, and enjoy some quality American bar food. The wings are excellent, as is everything else, and the pitcher specials make for a cheap night. There's also an ARCADE (big buck hunter, car racing games, those stupid claw games that never actually work, air hockey, etc.) with two pool tables, and a jukebox filled with the latest and greatest jams to choose from. Note: the staff is also awesome, so stop by!
3. Amherst Brewing Company Similar to Rafter's in the food selection, and appearance of pool tables, ABC is a great place to down some craft beers and bar food before heading out for the night. The bar is also enormous so you're guaranteed a good seat with able room for multiple plates.
4. The Pub The pub in town is perfect, especially when the weather gets warm enough for the outdoor patio. Drinks are priced well, the food is cheap, and the atmosphere is fun. It is also a plus being right in town, close to the bars that you're sure to be attending once you're good and tuned up.
There you have it, the drunk eats rundown in Amherst. Of course there are other, more boring places as well, like Domino's and Chili's, but who needs those when we have some Amherst originals?
