When the weather turns warm on a college campus in New England, the apparent population of the school practically triples. Suddenly everybody is outside soaking up the sun, playing frisbee, and having impromptu picnics. When you go to Boston University there is only one real space for this kind of spring-time frolicking: the BU Beach. Unfortunately, the Beach reaches capacity after about a dozen people set foot onto it and it quickly becomes a crowded and uncomfortable space.
If you want to enjoy the warm weather, but don’t want to have your fellow students sitting on top of you, pay attention to a little secret I am about to share with you. Amory Park is a haven for those seeking peace, quiet, and space. Located a couple of blocks past south campus off of Amory Street, this park is gigantic and usually empty. Even better- this park is a favorite amongst dog owners in Brookline, so if you are missing your own pup from home you can get your doggy fix here. There’s a constant stream of furry friends running around the perimeter of the park.
So when the snow melts and the sun starts to shine, turn towards Amory Park instead of the crowded patch of lawn on campus. You will not be disappointed.
