The Boston Museum of Science doesn’t exactly scream “within my budget” for a college student. However, most people don’t realize that the planetarium is a separate entrance fee from the rest of the museum. For only $10.00 you can pop a squat in a dark domed theater and enjoy an awesome show about outer space.
The most recent addition to their lineup is a show about moons. Even if you don’t really care about the moon you will absolutely enjoy the show. The atmosphere is super relaxing and you will learn a lot of cool things about the universe that you didn’t know.
My one warning about visiting the planetarium: use caution when deciding what time of day to visit. Weekends and early evenings are guaranteed to feature the screams of small children, which is not exactly relaxing or enjoyable. Navigating your way to through the museum will be hellish when hordes of small babies are running around everywhere drooling and pooping. So find a late showing on a weekend or weeknight, or maybe even in the middle of the day, and you are in for an out-of-this-world treat (clever, right?)
