Imagine this: you’re walking down Valencia Ave in the Mission District on a sunny afternoon, minding your own business, watching as a delightful mix of hipsters and tamale-toting abuelas pass you by—and suddenly you spot A WINDOW FULL OF PIRATES WITH PEG-LEGS! Granted, the pirates are not, per se, “alive,” but they’re the most authentic-looking wooden mannequins dressed in pirate’s clothing that you’ve ever seen. Let’s get real: San Francisco can be a pretty bizarre place, but pirates are few and far between. What is going on here?
